Classroom Management
Classroom management is an essential tool needed to create a safe environment in which all students can learn. Through my classroom management plan I hope to create an environment in which all barriers to learning are removed. As a teacher, I am committed to making my classroom a safe environment where my students will be challenged and engaged in learning. I seek to meet the needs of each individual students so every student is feels a sense of belonging in my classroom. I believe belonging will create an environment conducive to student-centered learning in which all students can be challenged to think complexly.

Responsive Classroom InspiredWe developed rules together as a class and displayed them in the room at students' eye-level. I recognized and encouraged positive behavior through verbal language and written notes. If students were unable to maintain self-control, they were given logical consequences such as "you spill it, you clean it" or if a student was disrupting the group , I used the "take-a-break" system where students were removed from the group until they had regained self control and could return as a positive contributor to the community. .

Think about it!
If I notice that a student is making a bad choice with their words or actions, I will ask them to complete a "think about it" sheet. On this sheet, the student will write, or draw, what action they did that was unkind and then they will write, or draw, what they could have done differently. In some cases, this sheet will be sent home with the student to be signed by their parent and returned.
